vision and work
The work of Pepe Nitz operates in the fields of furniture and product design, interior architecture, exhibition design, and art direction. Always driven by a vision of a new approach to design with sustainable outcomes, Pepe loves to combine traditional techniques with modern digital fabrication methods. The overarching goal is to find customized solutions that meet contemporary sustainability requirements—social, ecological, and economic.
Vita
Born and raised in the rural part of northern Germany, Pepe began exploring his father's woodworking workshop early on.
In 2013, Pepe moved to Leipzig to study Publishing Technology at HTWK - University of Applied Sciences. During this time, he discovered his passion for design, which he practiced through various graphic design projects, including a book design for the publishing house Die Andere Bibliothek. After interning at the publishing house Die Gestalten and deepening his studies at IUT Paris Descartes, Pepe graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in 2017.
After working at his father's company, Pepe applied to Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design, where he began his studies in Interior Architecture in 2018. Studying at BURG was distinguished by a strong focus on hands-on work. The range of project tasks covered the entire spectrum of interior architecture, including construction in existing buildings, developing conversion plans and room concepts, designing and planning furniture, and creating temporary buildings. These activities were supplemented by set design and the spatial implementation of complex corporate design strategies.
Pepe completed his studies with a Bachelor of Arts in 2024.
Self-employed since 2020, Pepe has implemented several projects, ranging from customized kitchen furniture to a 15 to 20 meter pavilion made of scaffolding. He has faced a variety of challenges and is now looking forward to gaining professional experience in the field of architecture, aiming to once become a member of the German Chamber of Architects.
